We’re thrilled to share that Homestead hosted its very first Community Clean-Up in partnership with the City of Calgary — and it was a huge success! Neighbours came together to clear waste, tidy illegal dumping, and give our growing community a fresh start. A big thank you to all the volunteers, community association board and city staff who made this event possible — your hard work and community spirit truly made a difference!

“We were able to collect over 6 metric tonnes of garbage today – thats over 13,000 lbs!
Congratulations Homestead Community for hosting our first Community Cleanup Event!
We have many takeaways and we look forward to hosting more future events that will build our community.
Appreciation to all volunteers! Volunteering is not just a task, but an act of kindness. Thank you for showing up, caring deeply and putting it into action.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!” – Wilmar, Treasurer (whatsapp, 2025)
“The community cleanup event was a tremendous success, and I’m grateful to everyone who participated! Special thanks to our amazing volunteers who dedicated their time and effort. A big shoutout to Raj Dhaliwal and his team for their incredible support throughout the day.
Your contributions made a significant difference. Let’s keep working together to keep our community clean and beautiful.
Once again a big thank to our Volunteers 🙏” – Devpal, Vice President (whatsapp, 2025)
“Hey all, hope your having a good weekend. Some thoughts I have is if anyone has a truck and is willing to pick up dumped sofas in and around our community and bring it to the site we could help unload them into the truck and that would be a great service. Another is if individuals use their own garbage bags as we don’t have any to provide the first year and went out to pick up debris, and brought it to the location we could help throw that away to. Reminder the clean up ends at 1. Any other ways to help and ideas are always welcome.
Thanks to the volunteers that have come today from homestead it really shows teamwork. Reminder if you have old furniture or know anyone that has been putting off going to the landfill, that today it’s free and in our community. Drive over and get free of clutter.” – Raj, President (whatsapp, 2025)
Finally, a big thank you to all the volunteers from our community, board members, and Raj Dhaliwal for the hours of support. It was a really fun event that shows this community cares for each other!
